British Sign Language Performances
At the Marlowe Theatre, we offer British Sign Language Interpreted and sometimes, BSL Integrated performances.
At a British Sign Language Interpreted performance an interpreter stands on or aside the stage and interprets the spoken word and sound effects of the performance in British Sign Language (BSL). At British Sign Language Integrated performances, the interpreter is part of the action on stage.
If you are interested in booking BSL interpreted performances at the Marlowe Theatre, please sign up to our Access Scheme.
If you speak British Sign Language and would like to find out more about our performances in BSL, please watch our video below.
FAQs
Can I bring my assistance dog?
Assistance dogs are welcome in our building, Main House and Studio. We also offer dog sitting at Stage Door during the performance, please get in touch in advance of your visit if you would like to find out more or use this service.
Do you have a hearing loop?
We have installed a Sennheiser (Tourguide 2020-D) hearing loop system in our Main House and Studio which uses radio frequencies to amplify sound from the stage. Personal induction loops are available for use with a hearing aid; for those who do not wear a hearing aid, headphones are available.
You can collect induction loops and headphones from our Box Office; our staff will be happy to give you advice on how to operate these and you can also download our How to use our Sennheiser Hearing Loop instructions.
