The Marlowe Kit Project

The Marlowe Kit Project

Developing the creative lives of young people.

We work with young people to develop their creative talents and future careers, through theatre workshops and skills training.

This happens at The Marlowe Kit, a twelfth century building that is one of Canterbury’s most important heritage sites.

Each week our popular Marlowe Youth Company meets there, giving young people the opportunity to develop their creative talents in workshops with professional theatre makers.

The Kit is also the centre of our learning and training programme for young people in full-time education. We run workshops with schools from across Kent and collaborate with The EKC group of colleges to provide East Kent students with skills training for their future careers.

In all of our work we champion diversity, broadening opportunities for all young people to live their cultural lives.

Piloting ways to bring heritage to life for young people has been a major focus of our work at The Kit. To support this, The Marlowe was a partner in the East Kent Pioneering Places Project, funded by the National Heritage Lottery Fund.

Our vision is to transform The Kit into The Marlowe Learning Centre, creating an inspirational centre of creative learning. As well as developing a fully equipped education space, The Kit will become a new destination for residents and visitors, offering free entry to the building and a riverside restaurant and courtyard café.
