Gluck's Orpheus and Eurydice
Eternal love, with a price to pay.
Orpheus, grief-stricken musician and son of one of the immortal muses, strikes a deal with the Gods to rescue his dead love, Eurydice. But descending to the Underworld comes at a steep price – Orpheus must resist the temptation to look at Eurydice until they return to the surface, or risk an eternity without her.
A timeless story of ill-fated love is brought to life with a new orchestration in ETO’s new production of Orpheus and Eurydice from acclaimed director and movement specialist Jenny Ogilvie, celebrating the myth of Orpheus through the power of the voice and profound theatricality.
