Free teacher CPD twilight sessions with Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures

Matthew Bourne’s Swan Lake caused a sensation when it premiered almost 30 years ago. It has now become the most successful dance theatre production of all time, creating new audiences and inspiring generations of young dancers. In celebration of that ongoing impact, Swan Lake will take flight once more.

In celebration of Swan Lake’s revival, we are delighted to be presenting two free twilight CPD sessions for teachers run by dance artists from our resident company, Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures.

These workshops will introduce teachers to practical exercises and give you tools and tips for teaching dance and movement in the classroom. The sessions are open to teachers from all state funded or academy settings including primary, secondary and SEN settings. Artists will share their experience of working with young people in a variety of settings and explore New Adventures’ dance style and choreographic approach through warm up exercises, physical games, dance phrases and creative tasks that can be added to your toolkit. This workshop is ideally suited to teachers of Drama, Dance or those who teach dance as PE, with an interest in storytelling through movement.

The sessions are FREE and will take place in the Marlowe Studio from 4.30-6.30pm on Monday 28 April or Wednesday 30 April (depending on demand).

To register your interest please fill in the form by Friday 28 February selecting which date you prefer. You only need to attend one workshop.

There are 20 places for each CPD workshop so early sign up is recommended. All places are subject to availability and demand. In the case of high demand, places will be prioritised for teachers in areas of high deprivation with pupil premium numbers above the national average. Confirmation of places will be sent by Friday 21 March.

If you have any questions about the training please do get in touch with our Learning and Participation team.
