Ria Jones first played the role of Norma Desmond in Sunset Boulevard when she stood in for an ill Glenn Close in a recent London production – and received standing ovations every night for her performance! Now she’s making the role her own, we thought it was time to get to know her better, so we subjected her to our quick-fire questionnaire.

1 Best experience on stage?
Stepping in as Norma Desmond for Glenn Close at The London Coliseum. 

2 Worst onstage experience?
Blacking out offstage after hitting my head onstage in Evita.

3 Greatest remaining ambition?
To play Mama Rose in Gypsy. 

4 Best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
There is always someone better than yourself – advice given to me by my dad. 

5 If you could have a superpower, what would you choose?
The ability to fly.

6 Your guiltiest pleasure?
Salted caramel ice cream.

7 Favourite role you’ve played?
Norma Desmond. 

8 Do you read reviews of your performances?
Very rarely – it’s scary! 

9 How do you relax?
A nice hot bath and a glass of Prosecco.
