Bringing the National Theatre to classrooms across Kent.

The Marlowe Theatre is proud to be a partner in National Theatre Nationwide, a landmark partnership between the National Theatre and 12 leading regional theatres across England. Created to improve access to high-quality theatre and cultural experiences, the programme brings world-class productions, creative opportunities and inspiring learning experiences directly to communities, schools and young people across the country.

Through National Theatre Nationwide, schools can access specially commissioned, curriculum-linked productions created by the National Theatre and toured directly into schools, colleges and local venues. Designed to enrich learning, spark creativity and introduce young people to exceptional theatre-making, these productions provide meaningful opportunities for students to engage with stories, ideas and live performance as part of their education.

As the National Theatre’s partner for Kent, the Marlowe Theatre is delighted to help bring these opportunities to local schools, ensuring that more young people can experience the power of theatre, regardless of where they live. Together, we are championing creativity in education and helping to inspire the next generation of audiences, artists and theatre-makers.

Our first National Theatre Nationwide schools project is Bacchae, a specially adapted version of Bacchae, created for secondary schools and colleges. This dynamic new production reimagines Euripides’ ancient Greek tragedy through rhythm, movement and music, supporting curriculum learning while offering students an engaging and memorable theatre experience. Schools can find out more and register their interest via the National Theatre’s Bacchae Schools tour page.
