LicKitySpit

The poetry slam with the quickest of wit.

LicKitySpit is Canterbury’s premier poetry slam event. Join us for an evening with wondrous wordsmith’s, stupendous storytellers, and passionate poets. Each slam will see a different guest headliner bringing the best the poetry scene has to offer to your doorstep.

The slam itself will see Kent’s finest go head-to-head in a battle of wit to be crowned the LicKitySpit Slam Champion. This is Canterbury’s only regular slam where you get to be the judge. So, come on down if you fancy an evening of entertainment sprinkled with dashes laughter, sadness, sorrow, and love.

Tom Gill headlines September’s LicKitySpit. An award-winning spoken word artist, actor and writer, Tom developed his passion for storytelling as a resident artist at Camden’s prestigious Roundhouse and is a former UK National Poetry Slam Champion. His spoken word pieces have been commissioned and televised by national networks, including Channel 4 and Sky One. He can also be found featuring on eclectic stages across the UK, from Lovebox and Latitude Festival to Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club and the Royal Albert Hall. Tom’s debut solo theatre show, Growing Pains, was commissioned by Battersea Arts Centre, premiering at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival to critical acclaim.

The slam element of the event is open to all. If you’d like to test your wit on our friendly stage, please contact us via email.
