Ark Alexandra Academy perform a brand new play as part of National Theatre Connections.
Each year the National Theatre commissions ten new plays for young people to perform, bringing together some of the UK’s most exciting writers with the theatre-makers of tomorrow.
An ordinary Tuesday soon becomes a very abnormal Tuesday as a tear rips across the sky. Over the school playground, the sky starts sucking up pupils and staff whilst raining down new people.
Confusion reigns as we, now the ‘Us’ and ‘Them’ try to work out what is going on. How are Ash and Magpie identical? Can Billy cope with having his sister back? Who is Franky?
Eventually cracks appear between the two groups. As the air on earth starts to disagree with ‘Them’, the race is on to try to get things back to how they were and safely return ‘Them’ back to the Universe they came from.
This play touches on themes of friendship, sibling love, family, identity, grief, bullying, loneliness and responsibility. And in the process, we might just learn something about ourselves as well as some astronomical theories of the multiverse!
