The Garden Of England, 2014

The Marlowe's first major community production was The Garden Of England.

Staged from 9 – 12 April 2014, the production took the audience on a journey through Kent’s history, from the theatre’s namesake Christopher Marlowe to more modern tales of those seeking a better life, whether moving from London drawn to Kent’s rural charms or refugees from further afield.

This was the first time our creative participants had worked together, and they also joined forces with Hadlow College students who created a beautiful garden behind our creative space which formed part of our promenade performance, alongside musicians and even local sellers of produce, with baked goods and crafts featuring in a pop-up market.

Share the magic of theatre with those who would not otherwise have this life-enhancing chance.
