Freelance Costume & Design Supervisor
The Marlowe, Canterbury, is one of this country’s most successful large-scale independent theatres, with a 1,200-seat Theatre, a 150-seat Studio and The Marlowe Kit, home to our thriving Youth Company. We present a year-round programme of touring theatre, musicals, dance, opera, music and comedy. We also produce theatre for and with the communities of Kent and support regional artists and theatre-makers. Our mission is to be the engine house for the performing arts in our region and to shape the spirit of Kent.
As part of the RSC’s Shakespeare Nation programme, we will be creating a new piece of theatre for The Marlowe Studio, working with adults from across Kent. We are looking for an experienced Costume Supervisor to work with our Designer for the production period. We can offer a fixed fee of £1200 for this role.
The production period commences from Mon 11 Oct and the supervisor must be available to support the final rehearsals and performances on Mon 25 Oct, Tue 26 Oct, Thu 27 Oct, Fri 28 Oct and Sat 29 Oct.
The ideal candidate will:
- Have experience of managing design budget
- Be confident with fittings
- Good sewing & alteration skills
- Experience of costume sourcing
- Experience of managing costumes for community cast
- Experience of devised theatre processes
- Be based in Kent
